Miles of conveyor belts are being installed, without disrupting airport operations, to make check-in and baggage claim faster and easier. New lobby conveyors free up space for more ticket counters to shorten lines. Space-saving, warehouse-style systems sort bags for each departure to speed up the loading process. New claim carousels, paired with more efficient staging areas for loading and unloading, keep bags moving efficiently. Construction of the Baggage Handling Systems will occur in two major phases, each phase concluding with the opening of Concourse D and the O’Hare Global Terminal respectively.
