Opened in 2022, seven pedestrian tunnels were fully renovated to improve comfort, safety, and efficiency. Building on earlier water-infiltration repairs, the project replaced all interior finishes and integrated a new backup drainage system. Modern, energy-efficient lighting and updated HVAC systems were added to meet current codes, with design enhancements extending into the tunnels beneath the O’Hare Hilton to create a seamless, continuous experience.
