O'Hare Global Terminal Fast Facts:
The $2.2 billion O'Hare Global Terminal will be one of the largest and most cutting-edge airport facilities in America, dramatically improving the first impressions that tens of millions of travelers will have when visiting Chicago each year.
It will more than double the space of today's Terminal 2, replacing it with an expanded, light-filled arrivals hall.
The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) will work with its airline partners to ensure a timely, cost-efficient delivery of the new terminal with minimal disruption to existing operations.
While building the Global Terminal is a significant undertaking, at no time during construction will gate capacity be reduced.
Two
planned satellite concourses
will provide enough gate capacity to shift activity from the existing Terminal 2 to the satellites, enabling the O’Hare Global Terminal to be constructed
The O’Hare Global Terminal will integrate domestic and international terminal operations and enhance passenger and baggage connectivity through:
Co-location of domestic and international arrival gates
More space for concessions, lounges, and public amenities
State-of-the-art baggage systems
Brand new immigration and customs facilities
Increased ability for airlines in alliances to consolidate operations within shared facilities, better positioning O'Hare to be a global alliance hub for all three major airline alliances
